Thryvly Is Bridging the Tech-Human Gap in the GLP-1 Revolution and Beyond
The health and wellness landscape is rapidly evolving, driven by groundbreaking scientific advancements and increasingly sophisticated technology. Yet, amidst this progress, a fundamental disconnect persists: How do we ensure that these powerful tools truly serve individual human needs, fostering not just treatment adherence but sustainable wellbeing? Serial entrepreneur Jeff Boyes, a member of the Food as Medicine Health Moonshot Community, is tackling this challenge head-on with Thryvly Health Tech.

The Challenge: Beyond the Prescription Pad
The advent of GLP-1 medications has marked a significant turning point in weight management and metabolic health. These therapies offer transformative physiological effects, yet a critical gap remains in supporting patients through their journey. Jeff Boyes, founder of Thryvly Health Tech, shares the story of a late-night call with a medical doctor that illuminated this stark reality: "The medication works—but patients don’t know what to do next. There is no engagement, support, or connection through technology aligned with the patient’s relationship with the practitioner; everything is outside and needs to be embedded within. They don’t have the support, nutrition, structure, or tools to make this progress sustainable."
This anecdote underscores a broader issue within healthcare. While innovative treatments provide a powerful starting point, long-term success hinges on comprehensive support systems that address the behavioral, emotional, and lifestyle factors crucial for lasting change. Simply put, access to a groundbreaking medication isn't enough; individuals need personalized guidance and continuous support to translate that initial momentum into enduring health habits.
Origin Story: From Personal Insight to Purpose-Driven Innovation
Thryvly's origin story is deeply rooted in Jeff Boyes' personal journey and a commitment to human-centered solutions. His own experience navigating recovery after a severe car accident and brain injury in high school ignited a lifelong passion for nutrition and exercise physiology. This wasn't a boardroom invention; it stemmed from a profound understanding of the body's resilience and the crucial role of holistic wellbeing.
Years spent pursuing undergraduate and dual master's degrees in exercise physiology and nutrition culminated in Boyes taking a teaching position at the University of San Diego. During his time as a student and an educator, Boyes felt the entrepreneurial spark: “I was never one to follow the pack or to follow someone else's vision or path or ideas or suggestions. And so I came up with this business model with nutrition and technology because I knew that there was a missing gap between nutrition, health, and technologies in terms of really providing the most value.”
Ultimately, Boyes transitioned from teaching to building solutions and launched his first company, Evolution Nutrition. Serving over two million patients and 60,000 enterprises over a decade revealed a crucial truth: the most advanced technology is ineffective if it doesn't resonate with and provide tangible value to the user. This realization and the emerging landscape of GLP-1 therapies sparked the vision for Thryvly as the platform to bridge this gap. The "aha moment" wasn't just about the power of data, but about "what that data could unlock for people," transforming a moment of medical intervention into a catalyst for lifelong wellness, unlocking the empathy and connection to what people really need. Thryvly's mission, driven by Boyes' vision, is clear: to "reimagine the way people connect with their health—by turning advanced technology into deeply personal, human-centered experiences."
Under the Hood: The Evolution of Technology & Health
Thryvly, under the leadership of Boyes, is building a sophisticated yet intuitive platform designed to act as a "smart coach and best friend in your pocket," particularly for individuals utilizing GLP-1 medications. Boyes explained it simply as a "special ‘robot brain’ that learns what each person needs—like reminders, encouragement, and tips—and helps them stick with their goals every day." The programming l will leverage a unique and proprietary system for intelligent data processing, algorithmic inference, and autonomous decision-making, offering a distinct advantage in the market.
For patients, the journey begins with onboarding and a comprehensive baseline assessment capturing medication details, lifestyle, nutrition, emotional health, and behavior patterns. Thryvly's AI then generates a personalized health engagement plan, delivering daily micro-engagements such as nutrition nudges, movement suggestions, sleep optimization tips, and emotional check-ins. The platform dynamically adapts based on patient behavior, biometric data from wearables, and adherence patterns. Weekly progress reports and habit-tracking gamification maintain motivation. At the same time, real-time human support from trained health coaches is available when adherence risks are detected or for scheduled 1:1 sessions and virtual cohorts. Patients can track their progress in weight loss, mood, sleep, and medication adherence, empowering them with a clear understanding of their journey.
For providers, Thryvly integrates seamlessly into existing clinical workflows, allowing providers to enroll patients directly or via EHR/EMR API integrations. A predictive dashboard provides real-time insights into adherence risk scores, biomarker assessments, drop-off likelihood, engagement metrics, and nutrition/metabolic risk trends. The system triggers alerts to assist practitioners in understanding patient data and offers evidence-based recommendations for behavioral interventions or medication adjustments. Customizable reporting supports reimbursement documentation and value-based care alignment.
The core value proposition, as envisioned by Boyes, is clear: for patients, it's personalized, empathetic support; for providers, it's enhanced clinical care and improved adherence; and for Thryvly, it's a virtuous cycle of data-driven insights leading to better outcomes.
What's Next: Building a Future of Sustainable Wellness
“Patients won’t just lose weight or improve labs—they’ll gain confidence, control, and a clear path toward sustainable health. That’s the future we’re building: where GLP-1s are the starting point, not the solution—and where the real impact is measured in long-term wellness, not just prescriptions.”
Thryvly Health Tech is currently in the early commercialization phase, poised for significant growth. Phase I, a 90-day pilot within a medical practice, is set to launch mid-2025. This crucial phase aims to validate product-market fit, optimize engagement workflows, and begin capturing real-world data on adherence, engagement, and metabolic health.
Following the pilot and clinical study, Thryvly plans to implement its model into eight additional medical enterprises in Q4, marking a significant step towards market readiness. Q4 will also see the initiation of IP protection for their unique system and methods.
Looking ahead, Boyes' vision for Thryvly is ambitious: to transform GLP-1 therapies from simply a medication into a "powerful entry point for lasting, positive change." Thryvly aims to empower patients to gain confidence, control, and a clear path toward sustainable health by providing personalized support and guidance. This translates to proactive, precision care for the healthcare system, leading to better outcomes and stronger patient-provider relationships.
As a founding member of the Food as Medicine Health Moonshot Community, Boyes recognizes the power of collaboration in achieving this vision. “I'm invested in helping others because I'm a teacher; teaching is one of the best ways that I can learn.”
Under the direction of Jeff Boyes, Thryvly Health Tech is not just building a technology platform; it is fostering a movement towards a future where healthcare truly meets individuals where they are, empowering them to take that crucial first step towards lasting wellness and a healthier life.
