Alamar Biosciences and Pramana Pharmaceuticals Gain Alzheimer’s Moonshot Momentum | StartUp Health Insights: Week of Jan 13, 2026

This week’s global health innovation funding highlights new investments in Alzheimer’s Moonshot Community members Alamar Biosciences and Pramana Pharmaceuticals, followed by a surge of rounds across precision medicine, AI-driven drug discovery, digital health, medical devices, and care delivery throughout North America, Europe, and the Middle East.

This week, two StartUp Health community members announced new funding:

Alamar Biosciences, a Fremont, CA-based company that powers precision proteomics to enable the earliest detection of disease, closed $50M in an oversubscribed convertible notes financing. The round included funding from  accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Investment Management, Braidwell, Illumina Ventures, and Sands Capital. The financing will support the continued commercial advancement of Alamar's precision proteomics platform. <source>

Pramana Pharmaceuticals, a Vancouver, BC, Canada-based company using biotech discoveries to target the intersection of metabolism, immunity, and neurodegeneration, has been awarded $1M from the Alzheimer's Association. The funding will support final toxicology and translational studies to advance PRM-914, Pramana’s first-in-class, brain-penetrant, once-daily oral therapeutic for Alzheimer’s disease, into first-in-human clinical evaluation. <source>

Mirador Therapeutics, a San Diego, CA-based precision medicine company using data, AI, and advanced analytics to develop new therapies for immune-mediated inflammatory and fibrotic diseases, raised $250M from T. Rowe Price Investment Management, Adage Capital Partners, Fidelity Management & Research Company, ARCH Venture Partners, OrbiMed, Fairmount, Point72, Farallon Capital Management, Boxer Capital, TCGX, Invus, Logos Capital, Moore Strategic Ventures, Blue Owl Healthcare Opportunities, Woodline Partners, Venrock Healthcare Capital Partners, and other investors. <source>

Soley Therapeutics, a San Francisco, CA-based company using automation, robotics, and AI/ML models for drug discovery and development, raised $200M led by Surveyor Capital, with participation from HRTG Partners, RWN Management, Doug Leone Family Fund, Breyer Capital, GordonMD Global Investment, and other investors. <source>

ViCentra, an Utrecht, The Netherlands-based medical device company that developed the Kaleido insulin patch pump, raised $98M from multiple investors. <source>

Pomelo Care, a New York, NY-based startup providing virtual care for women and children, raised $92M led by Stripes, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, PLUS Capital, Atomico, BoxGroup, and SV Angel. <source>

Apella, a San Francisco, CA-based OR optimization platform that uses AI, computer vision, and analytics to provide real-time data to grow schedule capacity and improve care quality, raised $80M led by HighlandX, with participation from Vensana Capital, Casdin Capital, PFM Health Sciences, Upside Partnership, Operator Partners, K2 HealthVentures, OpAmp Capital, and Houston Methodist Hospital. <source>

Corsera Health, a Boston, MA-based startup focused on cardiovascular health that is developing an AI-enabled precision health platform, raised $80M led by Forbion and Population Health Partners, with participation from other investors. <source>

Spiro Medical, an Irvine, CA-based startup developing a neuromodulation system for asthma, raised $67M led by Andera Partners, Omega Funds, and Sherpa Healthcare Partners, with participation from HSG, Supernova Invest, Northern Light Venture Capital, and Hero Inc. Ltd UK. <source>

bit.bio, a Cambridge, UK-based biotech company leveraging human cell programming technology and an AI-enabled discovery platform, raised $50M led by M&G Investments. <source>

VieCure, a Denver, CO-based provider of intelligent software platforms for oncology care, raised $43M led by Mitch Rales and Northpond Ventures, with participation from Durable Capital Partners, Socium Ventures, and Sator Grove Holdings. <source>

Enable Injections, a Cincinnati, OH-based healthcare company developing and manufacturing a hands-free, wearable drug delivery platform, received $30M from Sanofi. <source>

Protege, a New York, NY-based AI data platform designed to unlock real-world data such as media content, audio recordings, de-identified health records, and medical imaging at scale, raised $30M led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), with participation from Footwork, CRV, Bloomberg Beta, Flex Capital, Shaper Capital, and other investors. <source>

Converge Bio, Boston, MA- and Tel Aviv, Israel-based startup that helps pharma and biotech companies develop drugs faster using gen AI trained on molecular data, raised $25M led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with participation from TLV Partners, Saras Capital, Vintage Investment Partners, and other investors. <source>

Flywheel, a Minneapolis, MN-based provider of a medical imaging data management and analysis platform, raised $25M led by Novalis Lifesciences and 8VC. <source>

Canopy, a Palo Alto, CA-based developer of a connected healthcare safety platform, raised $22M led by 111° West Capital and ACME Capital. <source>

Luminate Medical, a Galway, Ireland-based health tech company that helps patients to receive cancer treatments at home, raised $21M co-led by ARTIS Ventures and Lachy Groom, with participation from Western Alliance Life Sciences, 8VC, Y Combinator, Atlantic Bridge, Faber, SciFounders, and other investors. <source>

Tucuvi, a Madrid, Spain-based provider of an AI care management platform for healthcare organizations, raised $20M led by Cathay Innovation and Kfund, with participation from Frontline Ventures, Seaya Ventures, and Shilling <source>

BrightHeart, a Paris, France-based company developing AI for prenatal ultrasound, raised €11M ($12.8M) co-led by Odyssée Venture and GO Capital, with participation from the Mussallem CHD Alliance, Lift Value, IDAHO HealthTech Club via Side Angels, Sofinnova Partners, and angel investors. <source>

Topos Bio, a San Francisco, CA-based startup using AI and an integrated wet lab to target “undruggable” proteins that are central to devastating diseases, raised $10.5M led by Boldstart, Threshold, and Neo, with participation from angel investors. <source>

Carna Health, a Boston, MA-based digital health company focused on kidney care, raised $8M from individual investors. <source>

CertHub, a Munich, Germany-based medtech startup that uses AI-driven automation to cut healthcare documentation time and cost, raised €6.2M ($7.2M) led by Cusp Capital, with participation from D11Z, Calm/Storm, UnternehmerTUM, and angel investors. <source>

Ahead Health, a Zurich, Switzerland-based startup using AI to bring preventive healthcare into a single, clear digital flow, raised $6M led by RTP Global, with participation from Tiny.VC, Pareto 20, and individual investors. <source>

Feminai, a Tel Aviv, Israel-based company developing wearable technology combined with AI analysis for breast cancer detection, raised $6M led by Vertex Ventures Israel, with participation from ICI Fund, Fusion VC, Arben Ventures, Cactus Capital, and an angel investor. <source>

Sigrid, a Stockholm, Sweden-based medtech and consumer health company that specializes in metabolic diseases, raised $5M from undisclosed investors. <source>

AI4Eyes, a Montreal, QC, Canada-based developer of AI-powered eye care solutions, raised C$6.5M ($4.5M) from undisclosed investors. <source>

Oasys, a New York, NY-based AI-native operating system for behavioral health organizations, raised $4.6M from Pathlight Ventures, Twine Ventures, Better Ventures, and 1984 Ventures. <source>

Xella Health, a San Francisco, CA-based women’s precision health company, raised $3.7M led by Precursor Ventures, with participation from Capital F, Ulu Ventures, and angel investors. <source>

Tivara, a New York, NY-based startup bringing AI agents to the doctor's office, raised $3.6M from Mischief VC, Day One Ventures, Y Combinator, and angel investors. <source>

Kinotek, a Portland, ME-based developer of a digital health platform used by fitness and wellness professionals, raised $2M. <source>

FluoSphera, a Geneva, Switzerland-based biotech startup using AI to test drugs for safety and efficacy, raised €1.23M ($1.4M) led by Soulmates Ventures and an angel investor, with participation from IndieBio New York. <source>

Synchrony Medical, a Jersey City, NJ-based respiratory care technology company, raised $1M from New Jersey Innovation Evergreen Fund (NJIEF). <source>

Brado, a St Louis, MO-based healthcare engagement and technology company, raised an undisclosed amount from Santé Ventures. <source>

IMVARIA, a Berkeley, CA-based health tech company providing AI-driven diagnostic services for various forms of lung disease, raised an undisclosed amount led by InHealth Ventures, with participation from the Labcorp Venture Fund and Cedar Crest Holdings. <source>

RxAnte, a Portland, ME-based provider of analytics, software, and services for pharmacy care management, raised an undisclosed amount led by Primus Capital, with participation from UPMC Enterprises. <source>
