StartUp Health Recruits Pentagon Operations Expert Eric Waldo to Manage Global Expansion
NEW YORK (PRWEB) May 23, 2018 -- StartUp Health, which is organizing and investing in a global army of coachable entrepreneurs to achieve 10 health moonshots, announced it has named Eric Waldo as Chief Operating Officer to manage the organization’s rapid growth, which has expanded to six continents.
Waldo comes to StartUp Health from the Pentagon and the United States Air Force, bringing more than 15 years of operational military experience to StartUp Health’s mission of organizing and supporting entrepreneurs committed to improving global health. StartUp Health has the world’s largest portfolio of digital health companies having onboarded 234 companies from 20 countries. Waldo will leverage his military experience in overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations as the company expands its team, data, and media platforms to invest in thousands of Health Transformers from around the world.
“I am excited to be part of StartUp Health’s important mission to improve the health of billions of people around the world over the next 25 years,” said Eric Waldo. “To have the opportunity to bring my expertise from my time serving in the Air Force and working at the Pentagon to help transform the future of health is deeply rewarding. I’m inspired by our strategy to solve the biggest health challenges of our time so that we can speed up innovation by organizing and investing in coachable entrepreneurs into a new type of global army -- an army for good -- so that together we can achieve health moonshots.”
Previously, Mr. Waldo was a Chief Wing Executive Officer and a Nuclear Command & Control Center Manager in the US Air Force. Most recently, Waldo worked on special programs for PlanetRisk, a company contracted through the Pentagon, and was the technical program manager for Vencore.
“It’s a complex operation to organize and manage an army of Health Transformers spread across six continents,” said Steven Krein, co-founder and CEO of StartUp Health. “This is why we specifically set out to bring on a leader from the military with operational expertise and experience putting in place systems and processes to grow and scale. Eric is the perfect fit for our organization as we continue to expand globally.”
“Since we launched StartUp Health, our secret sauce has always been bringing together exceptional people who are committed to the mission of improving global health,” said Unity Stoakes, co-founder and President of StartUp Health. “Eric is not only a strong leader, he brings a unique set of skills that are helping us leapfrog to a new level.”
Mr. Waldo has an MS in Cyber Security from George Mason University, an MBA from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst Isenberg School of Management, and a BS in Information Technology from Syracuse University.
