Flosonics Raises $20M for Wearable Ultrasound Patch | StartUp Health Insights: Week of Mar 26, 2023
Flosonics Medical plans to use the Series C investment to accelerate commercial growth, expand indications for use, and continue evidence generation. The company aims to address the growing demand for wearable AI-assisted sensors to improve patient management inside and outside the hospital.

Flosonics Medical, a Sudbury, ON-based wearable medical ultrasound company that has been in the StartUp Health community since 2016, raised $20M (C$27M). The Series C round was led by New Leaf Venture Partners, with participation from previous investors Arboretum Ventures, Genesys Capital, and iGan Partners. On behalf of New Leaf Venture Partners, Vijay Lathi expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “Our investment into Flosonics is driven by the clear and significant impact their technology will have on patients in critical situations and the quality of the team behind it. Flosonics Medical stands at the forefront of wearable ultrasound, and we look forward to contributing to their continued success.” <source>

Hippocratic AI, a Palo Alto, CA-based company building a safety-focused large language model (LLM) for healthcare, raised $53M co-led by Premji Invest and General Catalyst, with participation from SV Angel, Memorial Hermann Health System, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) Bio + Health, Cincinnati Children’s, WellSpan Health, and Universal Health Services (UHS). <source>
Ultrahuman, a Bengaluru, India-based healthtech startup that sells wearable devices and services to track metabolic health, raised $35M from Blume Ventures, Steadview Capital, Nexus Venture Partners, Alpha Wave Incubation, and Deepinder Goyal. <source>
Protembis, an Aachen, Germany-based cardiovascular medical device company, raised $32.5M (€30M) led by Segulah Medical Acceleration, XGEN Venture, and TechVision Fund, with participation from Coparion, family offices, angel investors and a multinational medical device strategic investor. <source>
PocketHealth, a Toronto, ON-based patient-centric image sharing platform, raised $33M (C$45M) led by Round13 Capital, with participation from Deloitte Ventures, Samsung Next, Questa Capital, and Radical Ventures. <source>
Cureskin, a Bangalore, India-based digital-first platform that connects users with skincare experts, raised $20M led by HealthQuad, with participation from JSW Ventures, Khosla Ventures, and Sharrp Ventures. <source>
Tennr, a New York, NY-based healthtech startup using AI to automate work that begins with a fax, raised $18M led by a16z, with participation from Foundation Capital and The New Normal Fund. <source>
Cure51, a Paris, France-based techbio company focused on cancer, raised $16.3M (€15M) led by Sofinnova Partners, with participation from Hitachi Ventures, Life Extension Ventures, Xavier Niel, and Olivier Pomel. <source>
The CareVoice, a Hong Kong- and Shanghai-based health insurtech company, raised $10M led by Apis Insurtech Fund I. <source>
Metyos, a Paris, France-based medtech startup advancing treatments for chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients worldwide with its bio-wearable sensor and disease management platform, raised $3.5M (€2.3M) led by Cenitz, with participation from KIMA Ventures, Advans Lab, Bpifrance, and others. <source>
Chiyo, a Detroit, MI-based digital platform for maternal nutrition, raised $3M from Bread & Butter Ventures, Ingeborg, Union Heritage Ventures, Peterson Ventures, Detroit Venture Partners, Palette Ventures, and The Helm. <source>
Conduce Health, a New York, NY-based multi-specialty value-based care marketplace, raised $3M led by Connecticut Innovations, with participation from AlleyCorp, CityLight, and other investors. <source>
