Another Tech Giant Makes a Play in Health Tracking

Amazon’s announcement yesterday of a one-stop shop for all things wearable excited tech junkies everywhere, but we’re mostly amped about what the launch means for digital health. With one section of the online store devoted to fitness and wellness trackers and another dedicated to healthcare devices, the new marketplace puts a big emphasis on health tech. And it follows recent moves by other big tech companies, like Facebook and Intel, into fitness and health tracking. It’s one more sign the market is evolving quickly…

And we’ll be cheering on our company TalkSession when they take the stage with nine other tech companies for the startup pitch and demo events.

Digital Health Times Two

StartUp Health Newsletter: 7 Million Reasons

Posted on 2nd April, by Nicole Kinsey in Blog Post. No Comments

Obamacare Crosses the Finish Line With 7M Signups

The final tally is in: Thanks to thousands of events, hundreds of interviews, an army of celebrity tweeters and — don’t forget! — one "Galifinakis bump," the White House said Tuesday that 7.1 million people signed up for insurance under the new healthcare law.  That’s a huge victory for President Obama, especially considering the rocky rollout of Healthcare.gov back in October. And for healthcare startups? That’s 7 million more reasons why digital health innovation matters.

AARP Taps TalkSession for Its LivePitch Event

Ten digital health startups will be courting a crowd of tech-savvy seniors at the AARP Health Innovation @50+ LivePitch on May 9 in Boston. The finalists represent a broad spectrum of sectors, from mental wellness to data management, and they were picked from an applicant pool of nearly 200. We’re especially excited that StartUp Health company TalkSession will be among the startups to take the stage. If you’re interested in checking out the pitches, use our code HIP50 for $25 tickets.

Using Community Data to Improve Health

Think your community is in tip-top shape? The answer might surprise you. The annual County Health Rankings released by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin not only show how factors like education, unemployment and income can influence health, they present a big opportunity to innovators. To learn more, join the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Google+ Hangout on April 4 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. ET.

Calling All Designers and Devs: Wanna Remake Healthcare?

Backend leaders are moving into the forefront at the HxRefactored conference on May 13-14 in Brooklyn! Sponsored by Health 2.0 and Mad*Pow, a series of workshops and discussions will show how designers and developers are changing the future of healthcare. Interested innovators can register with the code HX14R10 for 10 percent off tickets.
